CHAPTER EIGHT - The Meaning of the Footwashing

The Gospel of John shows that the observance of the Christian Passover includes the ordinance of foot-washing. Jesus Christ instituted the foot-washing before instituting the bread and the wine as the symbols of His body and His blood. As Jesus commands us to partake of the bread and the wine, so He commands us to participate in the foot-washing. The foot-washing ceremony is essential to understanding our relationship with Jesus Christ and with one another as Christians under the New Covenant. We can learn many lessons from this simple but profound ceremony.
